Caledonia Competence’s Managing Director Gavin Smith presented at a recent Safety Seminar in Amsterdam. The event was arranged by the Health, Safety, Security and the Environment (HSSE) Committee of the International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA).
As Chairman of the IMCA Competence and Training (C & T) Committee, Gavin was able to give the attendees an update on the work of the C&T Committee along with providing advice on some of the IMCA C&T guidance documents.
Gavin also gave his thoughts on Effective Competence Management, Linking Competence to Safety, Effective Training Management and Effective Safety Training.
Following his presentation in the morning session of the seminar, Gavin joined IMCA’s Chief Executive Iain Grainger and Darren Male of Fugro who is Chairman of IMCA’s HSSE Committee on the stage for a Q&A session on a number of subjects.
Commenting on the day, Gavin said, “It was a privilege to be asked to present on a number of topics at the seminar. It was also great to catch up with delegates I hadn’t seen for a while and of course, to make new connections as well.”
“The event was very well organised by the IMCA Communications Team and the HSSE Committee and it was fantastic to see the winners of IMCA’s annual Safety awards being announced.”
